Lokita Carter, originally from a small town in Northern Germany, embarked on a spiritual quest in her late teens that led her to Berlin, living in an ashram in India, and many years in Byron Bay, Australia before she met Steve, the love of her life, in a hot springs pool in Northern California in 1998.

Lokita and Steve established themselves as the leading SkyDancing Tantra teachers in the United States. For 16 years they taught hundreds of seminars, with tens of thousands of participants, at respected educational organizations both in the US and internationally.

After being diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening breast cancer in July 2015, Lokita began a blog documenting her experiences with the illness and intense chemotherapy. Her intention was to create a guide for couples facing similar challenges.

When Steve was tragically shot dead in October 2015 by three drug-addicted drifters in the San Francisco Bay Area while walking with their Doberman Coco, the blog transformed into a lifeline for Lokita. It helped her find a reason to live, a means to heal herself, and the courage to face her husband’s killers.

Time passed.

In October 2024 Lokita was diagnosed with endometrium carcinoma that had already spread into the diaphragm, lymph nodes and colon. Surgery, chemotherapy, a year of immunotherapy followed. A year in which her beloved doghter Coco went across the rainbow bridge.

In March 2026 Lokita received the shocking diagnosis of a cancer recurrence with five metastatic lymph node tumors alongside the aorta, deep inside the body. Another operation. 28 radiation treatments. A urosepsis. And Lokita is still alive now! Read her amazing story and insights here.
