About Lokita Carter
Lokita Carter, originally from a small town in Northern Germany, embarked on a spiritual quest in her late teens that led her to Berlin, living in an ashram in India, and and many years in Byron Bay, Australia before she met Steve, the love of her life, in a hot springs pool in Northern California in 1998.
Lokita and Steve established themselves as the leading SkyDancing Tantra teachers in the United States. For 16 years they taught hundreds of seminars, with tens of thousands of participants, at respected educational organizations both in the US and internationally.
After being diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening breast cancer, Lokita began a blog documenting her experiences with the illness and intense chemotherapy. Her intention was to create a guide for couples facing similar challenges.
When Steve was tragically shot dead in October 2015 by three drug-addicted drifters in the San Francisco Bay Area while walking with their Doberman Coco, the blog transformed into a lifeline for Lokita. It helped her find a reason to live, a means to heal herself, and the courage to face her husband’s killers.
From an early age, Lokita has cultivated her distinctive experiential writing style through journals, letters, real-life short stories, poetry, and essays. These mediums continue to serve as her primary tools for self-reflection and sharing insights with others. Lokita’s lifelong calling to contribute to a better world drives all her creative and professional endeavors. With her broad and inclusive perspective on life, love and the human condition she fulfills her mission one student, one reader at a time.
As she pursued university studies in German and English literature, linguistics, and philosophy, Lokita’s writings garnered recognition, featuring in magazines and anthologies that showcased noteworthy young authors. Lokita has written for Huffington Post, authored many articles on spirituality and Tantra, appeared on numerous television programs and has co-produced best-selling educational programs about Tantra.
Her first book, Reaching for Sunrise: A Widow’s Memoir was released in April 2024. Follow her journey here.
Lokita divides her time between California, Costa Rica, and Germany. Currently she offers private Tropical Tantra Coaching Retreats for couples, and is working on her second book project.
